The nature of the low mountain range poses particular challenges when transporting a wind turbine to its final location – nevertheless, Sabowind mastered these.
Due to scheduled maintenance work on the Weißeritztalbahn railroad line, Sabowind was able to gain a narrow time window of just a few days which was used to obtain permission to lift out an iron bridge and make the route to the site possible. Thanks to meticulous planning with the turbine manufacturer and the transport company, it was possible to deliver the wind turbine to Obercarsdorf and transport it through Sadisdorf in precisely this time window.
The narrow roads through the village of Sadisdorf could only be drivien through by special transport vehicles. The self-propelled vehicles can be optimally maneuvered through the narrow streets using hydraulic adjustments during transport.
Since 09.03.2024, plant components have been transported along the prepared route over a distance of 6 km. As the road from Hennersdorf to Dippoldiswalde has to be closed in sections, this has attracted a great deal of public interest.
In addition to the transportation of 6 tower segments, hub and nacelle, the transport of the 3 blades, which each weigh 20 t and are 72.5 m long, is particularly spectacular and of great interest not only to curious citizens but also to all companies involved in the construction.
Sabowind needs one week to transport all the components. The commissioning of the Nordex 5.7 wind turbine with a hub height of 125 m is scheduled for the end of April / beginning of May. 13,500 MWh of green electricity will be generated per year which will supply 4,500 households with electricity.
Sabowind would like to thank all companies involved, as well as the citizens and interested parties who accompanied the transport, for completing everything smoothly in the short time frame made possible by the Weißeritzalbahn.
